Profiles allow everyone to have their own personal space on your Netflix account, including recommendations, browsing history, my list, and more. Here’s how to edit and delete your Netflix profile on any device.

If you want to edit or remove your Netflix profile from your computer, mobile device, or streaming service, this guide will show you how.

Why you should edit your Netflix profile

If you want to change your display name, profile picture, and other settings such as language, age restrictions, and automation settings, you’ll need to edit your Netflix profile. Any changes you make will be synced to your devices.

However, only a few devices have access to all available editing options. For example, the Netflix app for Windows can only change your profile icon and name.

Also, the only way to change the maturity rating of your profile is through the Netflix website. This is also the only option that requires you to enter your Netflix account password.

Why you should delete your Netflix profile

If you reach the limit, you must delete the existing profile and create a new one. Deleting a Netflix profile is permanent. There is no way to restore deleted profiles.

However, you cannot delete the main profile of your Netflix account. This is the profile you already have when you subscribe to the streaming service. So if you want to delete it, you have to cancel the subscription.

If you don’t have an account and want to pay for your Netflix subscription, we recommend that you delete your profile before making changes. But don’t do it right away, use the profile transfer feature to transfer your settings and history to your new account.

Edit or delete your Netflix profile using your web browser.

If you are watching Netflix in web browsers like Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, or Safari, you will need to do the following to edit or delete your Netflix profile.

1. Go to Netflix.com, log in to your Netflix account, and click the Manage Profiles button on the profile selection screen. When you’re logged into your Netflix profile, hover over your profile picture in the top right corner of the screen and select Manage Profile.
2. Select the Edit Profile icon in pencil for the profile you want to edit or delete.
3. Change the following settings and select Save Profile.

• Profile icon : Select your profile icon to choose another icon from the Netflix profile picture library.
• Profile Name: Enter the name of the profile in the text box next to the profile icon.
• Language: Use the dropdown menu in the Language section to select another language to display.
• Game Descriptors: Create or edit your own game descriptors for your Netflix games. It has to be unique.
• Maturity Settings: Enter your Netflix account password and select the maturity level for your profile – All, 7+, 13+, 16+, or 18+.
• Automation Controls: Set automation options for episode and TV show previews.

Select Delete Profile to delete your Netflix profile. If you don’t see this option, it’s because you’re trying to delete the main profile of your Netflix account.

Edit or delete your Netflix profile on iOS, iPadOS, and Android devices

1. Open the Netflix app, tap your profile icon in the top-right corner of the screen, then select Manage Profiles.
2. Click the pencil icon on the profile you want to edit or delete.
3. Change your profile name, language, autoplay settings, etc. Then tap Done to save your changes. Click Delete Profile to delete the profile.

Change your profile icon and name in the Netflix app for Windows

There is a Netflix app for Windows, but you can only change your Netflix profile icon and name. Individual files cannot be deleted.

Go to the Netflix profile selection screen, select Manage, then select the pencil icon on the profile you want to edit.

Change your profile picture and name and select Save > Finish.

Edit or delete your Netflix profile on your streaming device

To edit or delete your profile in the Netflix app for your smart TV, streaming device (like Apple TV or Roku), or console:

1. Open the Netflix menubar and select Switch Profiles.
2. Select a profile to edit or delete. Then scroll down and select the edit icon at the bottom.
3. Make your changes and select Save Profile. Click the Delete Profile button to delete your profile.

How to migrate your Netflix profile

If you are not an account holder but plan to pay for a Netflix subscription, you do not need to delete your profile before proceeding.

Or use the profile migration feature to transfer your preferences and profile history to your new account. Start by signing into Netflix in your browser, select your profile icon, and then select Submit Profile.

How to cancel your Netflix account

To delete your default Netflix profile, you must cancel your Netflix subscription. To do this, open Netflix in your browser and select your profile icon. then select Account > Unsubscribe.

Netflix keeps your data for 10 months, so you can subscribe and access your basic profile and career during this time. To expedite data deletion, please contact Netflix Support.
