Explain the history of Facebook and how it works.

When you publish an article, it appears at the top of your news feed. Stories can’t be liked or shared like other posts, but you can still comment on them. You can write your story using the Facebook app, Facebook Messenger, or the Facebook website.

Who can see your Facebook history?

Here’s how to change your Facebook Story’s privacy settings:

• Click the gear icon to open Settings & Privacy.
• Scroll down to Audio & Video and click Stories.
• Click on the History privacy option.
• Change your privacy settings to “Friends” so that only people on your friends list can see it. Additionally, you can choose to “hide your story” to prevent certain people from seeing your story.
• Click Sharing Options. Here you can choose when you want to share a story.

Can I view my history and hide what I saw?

There are several ways to view history without leaving a trace. Note that this method is not 100% reliable and Facebook may update the history function to prevent this.

View Facebook profile in airplane mode

If you don’t want Facebook users to know you’ve seen a story, you can’t use airplane mode to send messages to the Facebook app’s servers.

• Launch the Facebook app on your Android or iPhone and sign in if you aren’t already. Then load the homepage.
• Turn on airplane mode (or airplane mode) to turn off your phone’s internet connection.
• Select the story you want to view. It needs to be preloaded. This means you can watch offline.
• Completely close the Facebook app when you’re done.
• Disable flight mode and return to normal operation.

Note: If you turn off airplane mode before closing the Facebook app, Facebook users will see a notification that they have viewed your story. Also, some conversations may not load, in which case you need to turn off the flight status and allow them to load before attempting to log in offline.

View Facebook Conversations using half swipe technology

Another way to unknowingly view Facebook conversations is to swipe in the middle of a previous conversation. This allows you to view the story without registering as it was viewed. The system works fine for text- or image-based stories, but one drawback is that you can’t watch video stories.

• Open Facebook and select the conversation you want to watch without knowing before the conversation.
• Swipe through the story to see what happens next. But keep your hands off it. You can watch most of the interviews (if not videos). When you’re done, go back to your original conversation and leave it at that.

Use another account

The third and final way to view your Facebook story without showing it to others is to use a separate account. This applies to people who share their stories on Facebook publicly, but not just people who share with friends (unless you add them and they accept your friend request).
