Swipe your finger across the Control Center to quickly access your most used applications. Here is how to set it up on iPhone and iPad:
It can be a pain to find all the settings on the iPhone and iPad (and even the Mac). That’s why the Control Center is offered to give you quick access to many of the features that may be hidden in your device’s settings.
You can change the settings for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, brightness, volume and screen orientation with this floating button set. You also have easy access to music controls, dark mode and screen mirroring options. Other features can be added. Here’s how to use and customize Control Center to make it work for you.
How to open the control center
How you open Control Center depends on how old your device is. If you’re using an iPad or iPhone X or later, you can swipe down from the top-right corner of the screen. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen on an iPhone SE or iPhone 8 or earlier.
Control Center displays a series of icons, each controlling a specific setting on your device. You can access flight mode, airdrop, wifi, bluetooth, music, orientation lock, failure mode, screen mirroring, brightness and volume. These controls are built into the control center.
Some controls are only available on certain devices. For example, Personal Hotspot and Cellular Data Control are only available with Wi-Fi + Cellular on the iPhone and iPad. There are also many additional controls that can be added or removed at any time.
Using the control center
Each icon in the Control Center works just like any other app on your device. Tap to enable the feature, tap again to disable the feature. Click the control to expand or display the menu of options.
Pressing the buttons for Airplane Mode, AirDrop, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Cellular, or Personal Hotspot expands an entire section to make it easier to view and manage these options.
Click the AirDrop icon to disable the ability to receive content, only allow content from your contacts, or allow content from everyone. Press and hold the Wi-Fi icon to select from a list of nearby wireless networks. Click the Bluetooth icon to connect your Bluetooth device.
Volume and brightness control
You can use the brightness slider to brighten or darken your screen. Press the bar to access the Dark Mode, Night Shift and True Tone options (if available). You can also use the volume slider to increase or decrease the volume.
Music controls
Pressing the music icon brings up a window with options to play, pause, skip forward or backward, adjust the volume, and access iTunes or the latest music streaming app. If you have an Apple TV, you can also stream music to your TV.
Focus mode control
Press the Focus icon to access different modes such as Do Not Disturb, Work, Sleep, Eat and Drive. Touch a specific mode to activate it. Tap the ellipse icon for any mode and turn it on for 1 hour, until tonight or until you leave your current location.
Tap Settings for a particular mode to go to the Settings screen, where you can choose to receive notifications from specific people or apps when that mode is active, or customize your screen for that mode. or Mode – You can set specific schedules.
Manage screen mirroring and rotation locks
Press and hold the Screen Mirroring icon to mirror your device’s screen to a nearby Apple TV. Tap the Rotation Lock icon to decide if you want to change the screen orientation.
Customizing the Control Center
Control Center can be configured in Settings > Control Center. To use Control Center in an app, make sure app access is enabled.
You can now decide which controls to present in the Control Center. The available commands appear in the Included Commands section and the available commands in the Other Commands section.
Optional commands to add are Access Shortcuts, Alarm, Apple TV Remote, Calculator, Camera, Dark Mode, Flashlight, Guided Access, Listen, Keyboard Brightness, Low Power Mode, Magnifier, Music Recognition, Notes, Quick Notes, QR Code Reader. is included. , screen recording, voice mode, voice recognition, stopwatch, text size, timer, voice memo and wallet. (Some of these options are only available to iPhone users and won’t appear if you have an iPad.)
You can add settings to the Control Center by clicking the plus sign (+) icon next to a setting in the list. This control is then passed to the embedded command part. Useful controls include alarm, flashlight, camera, dark mode, timer, voice memo and safe.
If you decide to remove an item from the Control Center, check the Include Commands section. Click the minus (-) icon and then delete. This control is then routed back to another control section.
You can also change the order in which commands are displayed in the Control Center. Drag the hamburger icon control to move it up or down the list.
